Welcome!

It is my privilege and pleasure to invite you to attend the 11th InternationalCongress on Inborn Errors of Metabolism, hosted by the Society of Inherited Metabolic Disorders (SIMD) and being held 29 August through 02 September, 2009 in San Diego, California, USA at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Those of us in North America look forward to welcoming delegates to one of the most beautiful destinations in the United States. San Diego is the perfect setting for this important event. With 70 miles of beaches and a gentle Mediterranean climate, delegates will have much to enjoy. The venue for the ICIEM—the Manchester Grand Hyatt, San Diego—is one of North America’s finest convention hotels and offers a prime waterfront location on San Diego Bay, boasts a resort-like setting and there is plenty of shopping, entertainment, dining and entertainment options close by.

The International Committee has planned an exciting program that will offer free papers, posters, invited lectures from distinguished and world renowned speakers, workshops and exhibits and a variety of social activities. Delegates and their guests will enjoy a variety of networking and social activities, the Congress Dinner and many tour options. The Congress will provide an opportunity to see old friends, make new friends, and network with colleagues from around the world.

On behalf of the entire Local and International Organizing Committees and the Board of SIMD, we look forward to welcoming you to North America in 2009.
